Life Impact ministries has posted the new edition of the official C&MA quizzing rule book for download here. All coaches, officials and captains should definitely familiarize themselves with the rule book before each meet.

The most impacting change is in the section under Time Outs.

Each team is allowed two, one-minute time-outs. One of those time-outs may be taken after question 18.

Congratulations to Western Canada 1 for a second-place finish after the preliminary round. Keep praying for both Western Canada teams as they lead into stressful team-oriented quizzing… and in fact, pray for all the teams and officials.

Internationals Pre-Game Update

The International quizzers have continued to study diligently since finals to prepare for the International meet. All involved will be leaving at the end of the week to head to their final days of practice before the meet starts on July 20.

Team 1 will be meeting in the Brooks area and team 2 will meet in Fort Saskatchewan. These will be busy days, filled with a lot of quizzing and many activities. We also have officials, stats and worship people from our district that will be lending their talents to the meet. Your prayers for all would be appreciated.

For those of you who are planning on heading to Ambrose to watch some quizzing we have a programming note. ~~~ Not all of the teams will be quizzing on Friday as there are only a couple of quizzes that morning that are scheduled to determine the final bracket placements for the teams. There will be no quizzing after 10:00 so please DO NOT come on Friday as there will be no quizzing to watch.

There will be plenty of quizzing on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Saturday is a whole day of elimination quizzing with finals in the evening. We hope to see some of you there.

This website will be the official website for International team stats this year, so check back throughout to keep track of how the teams are doing.

For those asking about updates about internationals… well, there aren’t many just yet. They’re July 20-24 at Ambrose College in Calgary. Keep an eye on the Life Impact Quizzing 2010 website for tournament details as they become available.

Loss in the Quizzing Family — Gordon Packer

It is with sadness that we report that one of our quizzing family, Gordon Packer from Vauxhall, died yesterday from injuries sustained as a result of an accident that occurred as he was bicycling.

For those of you who might not have known Gordon, he was our newest stats person this year. He was the “guy with the accent” that was friendly and always had a story to share about his life. He was very enthusiastic about learning about quizzing and helping out where he could. He was looking forward to helping out again next year in the stats room in addition to learning how to fix the equipment for us. The Vauxhall/Brooks group welcomed Gordon into their group this year and was able to share some good times with him.

His passing will be felt strongly by the members of the Vauxhall/Brooks quizzing team as well as his family and friends and members of the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church. Please remember them in your prayers as they grieve the loss of a family member/friend and also rejoice and take some comfort with the fact that he is in the presence of the Lord. He will be fondly remembered and missed.
